Well, she's in Hawaii now....

Well, it's been a while since we updated Kaydee's blog. I wish she would start doing her own, but in the meantime, I will try and catch you up on the life of Kaydee....
In January Kaydee and Jason flew to Hawaii to start attending Brigham Young University Hawaii. They soon found that the beach wasn't quite as close as they thought it was, and town wasn't much of a town. But Kaydee was ready for the adventure. After having a room-mate for just 3 days, her room-mate was switched out. She did not know what to think of this, but decided to make the best of it. Her new room-mates name was Amber and the two of them hit it off from the start. Kaydee has enjoyed her time in Hawaii, but soon realized that college is college no matter where you are. She has made a million friends, (ok, the school only has 2500 students, so maybe not a million) but tons of friends and has truly enjoyed the adventures of school 5000 miles away in the middle of the ocean.
She has kept her mom busy with the middle of the night phone calls. (there is a 5 hour time difference), as she has had problems with her blood sugars, blood pressure, and even a ruptured ovarian cyst. But she is a trooper and is pulling through. She currently has a church calling playing the piano. (does that surprise us???)
Even though we miss Kaydee, we are very grateful that she has been able to have this experience. She will return home the 1st of August and in September will be transferring to
BYU-Idaho.

Pinepples or Potatoes???

Well, the big question.... Will it be eating lots of Pineapples or Potatoes come next winter??? In other words, was the decision made to go to Idaho or Hawaii for the next year of school??? Well, after having discussions with Jason, and Kellie and Kassie trying everything they could to convince Kaydee and Jason to join them in Idaho.... it was decided that Kaydee would be joining Jason for school in the great land of..... HAWAII! So, unless something major happens between now and the time they leave in January, Jason and Kaydee WILL be attending BYU-Hawaii for at least a year. It will be a very good experience for them! And will be a great family vacation!!!!!

Which college should she choose???

Well, Kaydee's dream came true. Just 2 days after her paperwork was filed, Kaydee was ACCEPTED to BYU-Hawaii! (Jason was not happy to learn that Kaydee got her answer in 2 days when it took him 4 days to get his acceptance!)
We told the kids that if they were accepted, we would seriously look into Hawaii for them. So as promised, we are beginning our research. Both Kaydee and Jason were accepted for January 2011. We are still waiting to hear from BYU-Idaho and we were told that we may not hear from them until September. UGH!!! But if they can get into Hawaii, there is no doubt they will get into Idaho.
Now to just decide how much we want to spend on them for their education....
We will keep you posted on the final decision!

A new temporary Sister....

In January, Kaydee's friend Rebecca came to live with us. She will be here until College semester finishes the end of May. She is a really sweet girl and we enjoy having her here. She is a trooper for putting up with all of us and our craziness with everything going on in our home.
Kaydee started up the new semester of college and has applied for BYU-Idaho and BYU-Hawaii. She is trying to convince her dad that he really would rather visit her in beautiful Hawaii and Not Idaho. Bur dad is NOT convinced yet. Maybe if/when that acceptance letter comes....
When KD isn't in class, she has been busy planning bridal showers for Kassie, and baby shower's for Kellie. But most of all she..... studies!
She recently decided to finally grow up and start attending Relief Society in church. She has been graduated from High School for 1 1/2 years now, and offically could have stayed in Young Women's till May of 2010, but she has decided to give RS a try. It has been easier with her sisters, and Rebecca in there with her.

That about sums it up for Kaydee. She continues playing the harp, piano and guitar, and still teaching piano.

Kaydee's summer coming to an end

Kaydee and Jeanette at EFY in Rexburg, Idaho

Well Kaydee definitely had quite a summer. Like Cancun was not enough for her.
In June she had a friend come visit her for a few days. Then July 7th she left for her final year of Young Women's girl camp. It was in LA and she has been attending since she was 12. She had a great time hanging out with her friends, and teaching the younger girls some camping skills.
She returned home on Saturday, July 11th, went to visit her dad in the hospital, (where we filled her in on what had happened during the week) and then home to do laundry and repack.

Sunday morning at 6 am, Kaydee and I flew to Idaho where we met up with the girls and Kaydee was finally able to meet Kassie's boyfriend Joe. She thought she was gonna be tough and scare him away, but she just couldn't get that tough talk going.

Monday morning, we met up with some good friends, and dropped Kaydee and Jeanette off at Especially For Youth at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg for the week, and I drove to Salt Lake to fly back home.

Kaydee had a great time at EFY. She was able to meet some wonderful kids and have her testimony strengthened. However, little did we know that between Girls camp and EFY, Kaydee's body would wipe out with a more serious effect.

After EFY was over, she was put in the care of Kellie and Alex. For 2 days she hung out with the girls and had a great time. However....

Monday July 20th, I received a somewhat panicked phone call from Kellie. She informed me that Kaydee had be shaking and jerking uncontrollably for about an hour. She said it looked like seizures but she was fully conscience. So what was a mother to do but to tell them to get her to ER immediately. So a trip to the hospital they went. They immediately gave her seizure medications and also found that she had Bronchitis. But this being in Rexburg Idaho, did not know what else to do, so they sent Kaydee home telling her to follow up with her doctor for more testing. Kaydee ended up seizuring for 4 1/2 hours!!!

Since I could not get to Idaho, Grandma and Grandpa left early Tuesday Morning to help out with Kaydee. (oh yes, this was finals week for the kids).

Wednesday we were all together and Kaydee managed to get enough energy to attend Kellie's Graduation festivities....

Upon returning home, marked that her summer would soon be coming to an end. And College life will start up again.

Next week, she will start back up at College of the Mainland. A JR. College here close to home. She is excited to have a good friend of her's in a few of her classes!

And with this, Summer is over...

Kaydee's trip to Cancun Mexico

I just thought I would post some pictures of KD in Cancun. She now believes that being an only child isn't so bad afterall. So enjoy looking at some of her favorite times while visiting the wonderful city of Cancun, Mexico.
